A Little About the Author

I am both literally and figuratively a child of the East Side of St. Paul. Though I have spent over half my life living outside of its confines  - and in fact outside Minnesota - much of who I am today is because of its influences. 

As a young girl, I didn't venture outside its confines often. Still, I married a Kentucky boy and now make my home in Washington state in the Puget Sound area.  Beautiful country but a far cry from the surroundings of my youth.

Except for a daughter in the Army in Germany, my children and grandchildren live near the Twin Cities still.

I get nostalgic for the old days and places long gone.  Seeing names on a closed Facebook group I belong to called "I aint from St Paul...Im from the Eastside" stirs up memories, good and bad, but mostly good.

I am a 1973 graduate of Johnson High School (the same school my parents attended). I got my BA in journalism (advertising) from the University of Minnesota. I have worn many hats over the years and had several careers, but now I am thrilled to add historical blogger to the list.
